I first heard this song in the movie (film) Easy Rider. I liked it a lot right then. I liked the spinning phasing effect in the instrumental section. I used my Parker Fly guitar for all the wild and wacky guitar solo parts.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
I've gone for a wild trippy, psychedelic vibe that recreates the mood of the original Easy Rider movie. So, put on your 'shades' man and head out into the sunset.
Lyrics
Wasn't Born to Follow (Carole King / Gerry Goffin) No I'd rather go and journey Where the diamond crescent's glowing And run across the valley Beneath the sacred mountain And wander through the forest Where the trees have leaves of prisms And break the light in colors That no one know the names of And when it's time I'll go and lay Beside the legendary fountain 'Till I see her form reflected In its clear and jewelled waters And if you think I'm ready You may lead me to the chasm Where the rivers of our visions Flow into one another... guitar solo #1 I will want to dive beneath the white cascading waters She may beg, she may plead, she may argue with her logic And then she'll now the things I've learnt That really have no value in the end she will surely know I wasn't born to follow... guitar solo #2

First class job!! Love the way you've added your own touch of magic to this and taken it to a new level. Excellent performance & playing. Haven't heard this song for years - really great to find a new version of it after all this time.

I listened to the Byrds original and yours is much punchier ! The vocals capture the Byrds essence and I prefer your guitar work you really got that spacey Psychedelic vibe going ! Really enjoyed it !
