Singer/ songwriter
Lawrence Bullock is a singer songwriter living in Mendocino, CA I'm often asked who I sound like, what kind of music do I play. Well, I listen to a lot of things. In Ireland they say I sound like Christie Moore, Bob Dylan (which surprises the hell out of me), Van Morrison (again, surprised) and I've even gotten Jim Croce on occasion. But you know, I'm thinking of chucking it all and banging on rocks til I reach a state where the atoms split apart and I realize that life's the first skip of the stone God throws across the Universe pond. I just write what comes into my head. I never think about writing a "hit" tune. I know the formula for writing a "hit" tune, it just never occurs to me to write one. The music biz these days is so corporatized, that what I write seems quaint and out of date. Oh well, I can only write what I write.

Story behind the song
I *know* Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote "How Do I Love Thee, Let Me Count the Ways" and the reference to Shakespeare just means 'wordsmith' or 'poet'. It's called creative license...
Lyrics
You’ve got the kind of love makes a grown man cry and puts some men on their knees You crook your finger and my oh my All the other girls are just memories Before I forget myself, well let me say I’ve fallen underneath your spell I ain’t no Shakespeare but I can count the ways That I could love you well, well, well I’ve found a love so fine and I can’t let it get away You’re always in my mind like a butterfly on a sunny day Don’t want to fight it, I want to let it be Oh, what’s happening to me? Oh, what’s happening to me? I know I’ve felt the lightning striking But not lately, not lately But you came along and it was frightening You threw a lightning bolt and then I knew what was happenin’ You came floating down to meet me I must confess that I was feeling low And you smiled at me so sweetly I felt the arrow, long before I saw the bow I just could not imagine How life would be if I couldn’t hear you laugh I suppose it would be tragic and my whole life would feel like half I’ve found a love so fine and I can’t let it get away You’re always in my mind like a butterfly on a sunny day Don’t want to fight it, I want to let it be It’s there for everyone to see It’s not some kind of mystery Girl, I’m sure that you’re what’s happening to me
