Everything Old Above the Earth
"Everything old Above the Earth" is a word play on the saying found in the book of Ecclesiastes, "nothing new under the sun." Nothing - Everything New - Old Under - Above The Sun - the Earth
Sometime in 2009, They Dwell Beneath the Temples (TDBT) was birthed as an idea for a solo metal project. It soon evolved from a thought into a home studio.
Story behind the song
"Everything old Above the Earth" is a word play on the saying found in the book of Ecclesiastes, "nothing new under the sun."
Nothing - Everything
New - Old
Under - Above
The Sun - the Earth
Everything Old Above the Earth is meant to reference the "spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12). "I'll call into question" corresponds with "test every spirit" found in 1 John 4:1. So, "I'll call into question everything old Above the Earth" speaks to the healthy caution a Christian has towards every ancient spiritual thing not aligned with God's Word.
Lyrics
Still bound in the fields of time,
I'm dying to the old man,
looking forward to a greater country,
towards a city where there's no more night,
and no need of light from the sun
Father, please tell me,
why's the world gone mad?
It's been that way for a while, child
I don't see it getting any better,
I don't see myself keeping all I have
Father, please tell me,
why's the world gone mad?
Father, Please tell me,
I'm terrified
It's okay, we'll waste away to dust in our graves,
It's okay 'cause we'll rise to new life,
alive in new bodies when we see His face,
I'll love not my life unto death,
if the Lord will grant me the peace,
I'll call into question,
everything old above the earth,
I'll leave this world with a smile,
even if I exit the scene in fire,
even if I exit the scene in fire
Still bound in the fields of time,
I'm dying to the old man,
looking forward to a greater country
It's okay, we'll waste away to dust in our graves,
It's okay 'cause we'll rise to new life
I don't see it getting any better,
I don't see myself keeping all I have
Father, please tell me,
why's the world gone mad?
Father, Please tell me,
I'm terrified
I'll call into question,
everything old above the earth,
there is nothing new under the sun,
there is nothing new under the sun
