Story behind the song
A song written for Doors of Destiny 4 - The Red Door. When Matt Shakleman exclaims that they are 'All Gonna Die', it triggers the Myna bird, Jester, to sing this hilarious ditty about our duty to go and die, or more accurately, have the other guy go and die.
While a humorous song, it's a bit dark, and its purpose is to lighten the mood in the novel, as well as get the reader thinking about the horrors of war and our duty, sometimes, to lay our lives down for King and Country.
While this humorous song is quite tongue in cheek, there is a higher King we as Christians serve, and may be called to lay our lives down as martyrs for the faith.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast [some] of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. (Rev 2:10 KJV)
Lyrics
Well, I dont understand why we have this war,
And Im not really sure what were fighting for
But the enemy comes,
Beating on their drums,
And were all gonna die someday.
Chorus:
Were all gonna die, Someday, someday,
Were all gonna die someday.
So grab your sword, in the service of the Lord,
For were all gonna die someday.
You dont know where or why or when
You dont know who might do you in,
Might as well go down
In the service of the crown
For were all gonna die someday.
Chorus:
Oh the king has called for us one and all
To bravely fight, before nightfall and it might be fun
To watch them run
For were all gonna die someday.
Chorus:
So just make sure that the other guy
Is the one who has his time to die
For if it were you
Itd be me too,
Though were all gonna die someday.
Chorus:
Oh, Im certainly glad that Im made this way
For a bird isnt fit for the battles fray
But if I were you
Id be fighting too,
For were all gonna die someday.
Chorus:
