as a child we moved a lot
never stayed in one place
been here and there and everywhere
my roots seem harder to trace
no spot to call my own
made some friends then moved on
seen many towns, been up and down
find a home then I'm gone
just plant your feet where you belong
you seem complete where you belong
I've seen the street where you belong
a place to call home
lived in apartments and townhouses
had no room of my own
had to share while music blared
from a building unknown
Mom comes walking in the room
I see we're moving again
should have known I have to roam
time to make some new friends
now I'm married with a child
and I live each day new
built my roots, I will pursue
to live my life here with you
in the village near a stream
a few acres of land
I'll make you laugh, my better half
continue holding your hand
