I am a retired roofer. I played in a band in New York in the 60s and 70s, we did very small gigs, parties, weddings etc. I have always loved music.
Story behind the song
We are all just staying in more, seeing others very seldom, only when we go to do something essential.
Lyrics
I'm in this fish bowl, I'm looking out, I'm seeing politicians,
microphones at their mouth.
They're talking about change, they give the babies a hug,
then they grease their palm, while they sling that mud.
I'm in this fish bowl I'm looking out,
Seeing preachers preaching, talking way up loud.
Talking about salvation, believing and trust,
then they take your money, it ain't never enough.
I think I will climb to the top of the mountain,
I think I will swim to the heart of the sea.
I think I will run to the end of the highway,
and fly through the rainbow
and lay there and sleep
I'm in this fish bowl I'm looking out,
Seeing Wall Street brokers, raise their hand and shout.
Talking lining your pockets, Yens dollars or pounds,
while they're taking your nest egg, and the stock goes down.
I'm in this fish bowl I'm looking out,
Seeing little bitty children bellies sticking out.
They're looking for food, they're looking for cover,
they're looking for a truce, and they need a little love.
I think I will climb to the top of the mountain,
I think I will swim to the heart of the sea.
I think I will run to the end of the highway,
and fly through the rainbow
and lay there and sleep
We all need a little love, We all need a little peace. We all need a little love, We all need a little peace
We all need a little love, can we get it right now? We all need peace can we get it right now
I'm in this fish bowl I'm looking out,
I see my brothers and sisters, out walking about.
They're looking for change, salvation and trust,
some peace and shelter, and a little bit of love.
I think I will climb to the top of the mountain,
I think I will swim to the heart of the sea.
I think I will run to the end of the highway,
and fly through the rainbow
and lay there and sleep
