Story behind the song
Awhile back I ended up with Leon Russell's drum machine. I wrote 20 songs around everything left on it and there were 9 that he arranged which are denoted by the number he saved them on the machine as being included in the title, for example (Song 01). I also included alternate versions of those 9 songs as instrumentals. Keith Cook - guitar, bass, drums, vocals
Lyrics
The twinkle in your eyes was like the sun in the sky All the words from your lips have run dry Im afraid its the end of our charade The torch has burned out of the parade Ashes are falling in the ticker tape parade The words came out the same but dont say the same thing 20/20 after sight (Im afraid) its the end of our charade The torch as burned out of the parade Ashes are falling in the ticker tape Paint my face like Pagliacci Suffering master of the art Paint my face like Pagliacci with the tears burning in my heart Paint my face like Pagliacci Laughter from a broken heart Laugh like Pagliacci You havent seemed to age a day But somehow I cant see you the same way Im afraid its the end of our charade The torch as burned out of the parade Ashes are falling in the ticker tape
