Have we lost the art of being kind? Do a kind act today.
kind kindness
We are a group of people who enjoy songwriting and then recording the songs. We do it for fun.
The Overtone Gang is a group of people who enjoy songwriting and then recording the songs. The structure of the gang is flexible and people may participate on one CD and not on another. It's their choice. Each person is allowed to pursue their own projects and come back to join the gang. Egos get in the way of music so we try hard to eliminate the reasons for it. 7 different people have been involved in the first three CDs. The Cycle of Life CD included a lot more people (16 in total). Our CD "Relations" had only four people. On our latest CD, Earth, there were three of us, Melanie Broussard, Buddy Trotter and Danny Liggett. The gang has written and recorded songs for 8 CDs. These were recorded by ourselves (no record deal). We duplicate our own CDs, design and print out the booklet and put the jewel case together. We do it for fun.

Story behind the song
With all the anger, hate and division in this "what's for me?" world, it seems we have lost the ability to be kind to one another.
Lyrics
The Lost Art Verse 1 A simple act of kindness Not seen much these days Not given a second thought As we go our own way An act passed to another With no one keeping score No praise expected Not seeking anything more This act was forgotten In this time of whats for me? Greed and pride rule the day Lost behind is our humanity Chorus What would the world be like If we were just to say Ill do one kind act Each and every day Maybe, just maybe Well make some progress Bringing back The lost art of kindness Verse 2 Hold a door, Smile at folks Say hello, shake a hand It doesnt hurt, its also free Youll begin to understand You may think youre poor But rich in heart youll be The burden of life will lift Once you start, youll see Your actions will be seen An example will be set For children and your friends And others yet to be met Chorus Bridge Open your heart Be kind as you can be So, the whole world can see Chorus End tag Maybe, just maybe Well make some progress Bringing back The lost art of kindness Copyright 2020 Rosenberg, Trotter & Liggett
