A Beatles styled psychedelic 'trip' down Memory Lane. The ghost of George Martin was guiding my fingers on the mixer controls. Sampled sitar (from a Ravi Shankar LP) fitted perfectly to the feel and the key to this song. Serendipity I'd call it.
psychedelic pop
Pop/Rock, Psychedelic, Ambient, Rhythm & Blues and beyond.
Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
Tony (Webster) wrote some great words and suggested the vocal melody...from that, I created a swirling 1967 period psychedelic stew, to pour them into. .There are nods and winks to the mid period of The Beatles and I tried to do what 'Uncle' George Martin would have done in the control room at studio 1, at Abbey Road. This was recorded way back in 2008. I had limited recording equipment but had lots of ideas above my station... :) ha ha Had I done this song a few years later, it would have sounded less muffled. It's none the less, captured in time for all its sonic imperfections. PS, please don't tell Ringo about the 'borrowed' beat from a song that you probably all know.
Lyrics
Find A Penny c (Webster / Briggs) 2008 Find a penny, pick it up, all the day, you'll have good luck. But it's none sense, the things we used to say... Don't let a black cat cross your path, he who laughs last always lasts, and it's none-sense, the things we used to say... None-sense, all none-sense, childhood toys and senseless noise, None-sense, all none-sense, pretty things for the girls and boys... Look before you leap, it's said, If you don't, you could be dead, but it's none-sense, the things we used to say... guitar break Walk under ladders, avoid the cracks, Stay out of shadows, your mother's back, but it's none-sense, the things we used to say... None-sense, all none-sense, childhood toys and senseless noise, None-sense, all none-sense, pretty things for the girls and boys... "take it away George...number 9, number 9, "...general weirdness section... None-sense, all none-sense, childhood toys and senseless noise, None-sense, all none-sense, pretty things for the girls and boys... None-sense, all none-sense, childhood toys and senseless noise, None-sense, all none-sense, pretty things for the girls and boys... guitar 'none-sense' section... back to the Ashram section...

Love those lyrics...this is very Beatlesque! Fantastic song, the sitar really does work perfectly with this. Great psychedelic styling...and if you have "borrowed" any bits, then it's not apparent because you've created a first class song in your own right. Stunningly good!

Oh this is the short version is it. Quantum Physicists, who disagree on a lot of things, tend to agree, there is a multiverse, containing every variable version of the universe we know and love. Actually, I can tell you first hand, that's true. Long story. Anyway, there is one of the universes, where this had to have been on the original White Album. And John sulked because you outweirded him, leaving his Revolution 9 a lag behind second... you're the one who probably came up with the 'number 9' in the first place... as for the nicking a bit from Yesterday or Tomorrow, well we Never Knows and neither will they, I won't tell 'em anyway... It's funny, before I played it, John said to me "Watch out, we might wanna do this one." After hearing it, I said "No point John. Listen to it, he nailed it."
