Lyrics
They were high school sweethearts In Hometown, USA David was a football star Becky perfect in every way Their love endured the college years He proposed and she said yes They walked out of that big brick church In a tux and wedding dress Then the world turned a corner On a cold September morning You see, David was a soldier….. Duty calls I’m on my way I’d stand between you and the enemy Any day Duty calls I will defend The honor of my nation, family and friends… Duty calls This story is unfolding A thousand times a day They may be different circumstances But the bottom line remains They’re trading all their comfort For a bunker in the sand Where they will risk their lives for the freedom Of every man Because the world turned a corner On a cold September morning I hear the cry of a soldier….. Duty calls I’m on my way I’d stand between you and the enemy Any day Duty calls I will defend The honor of my nation, family and friends… My boots will fill the footsteps Of the brave who’ve gone before Their memory will remind me It’s a cause worth fighting for
