Song about a garage sale addict.
I am a retired roofer. I played in a band in New York in the 60s and 70s, we did very small gigs, parties, weddings etc. I have always loved music.
Story behind the song
I see people, going to yard sales, and buying lots of things, some I wonder why. They go every time there is a garage sale, and they park in the middle of the street, and race you for the first position, for everything.
Lyrics
(1st Verse)
Five family yard sale, up on the hill, next door to the rich folks, I cant pay my bills.
When it comes to yard sales, I have learned since,
you gotta kiss a lot of frogs, before you find your prince.
(2nd Verse)
I bought a coffee maker, it had no carafe,
I dont know why I bought it, I bought a singing giraffe.
A dish made for butter, golf clubs with no putter.
My house is full to the top, cant bring myself to stop.
(Chorus)
If I had a dime for every time that I would just buy, and didnt know why,
Id be living on easy street, my life would be prime.
Id be drinking those tall cool drinks, frosty with lime.
Eatin steak and lobster tail, with some kinda wine.
Instead of sittin here cold in this car, to be the first in line.
(3rd Verse)
Caller ID for a quarter, a nick-knack for a dime.
I bought a velvet Elvis, it was a different size.
A pillow with a poem, I dont think it rhymes.
I bought a five-dollar Rolex, twice a day it keeps time.
[Repeat Chorus]
If I had a dime for every time that I would just buy, and didnt know why,
