Hey! Welcome to a band of heretic hunters! 'Cept, yah, we actually found what we were hunting for, and the Heretics are on national telvision preaching a 'new' Gospel...the good news of prosperity! Oh, and they're pushing a 'new' Holy Spirit too - one that can be thrown around a large sports arena like a baseball! Signs and wonders indeed!

Story behind the song
Written and recorded over the same period of time as the other tunes; around 1999. I love the message, but there's a subtle 'revolt' against the evangelical Christian music of the time. I remember Stryper, but this was a bit different. First of all, there was a 'thing' against the Blues genre, with a few notable exceptions - Glenn Kaiser and Darrell Mansfield, for instance - so this tune was purposefully made to have a fast shuffle feel. Another thing, harking back to my music college days, was the early Church's ideal of having on 3/4 time signatures to signify the Trinity. Therefore this was created specifically ignoring this. The number thirteen has always had an 'unlucky' tinge to it, even outside of Christianity. Except for 'baker's dozens' which from a donut shop I don't think anyone would ever refuse. But this tune was done in a fast 13/8 signature with that shuffle feel, and a 'sort of' bluesy chord progression. Fun to do but a little tough to play :)
