Story behind the song
Brian was our Canadian prime Minister who got caught with his pants down with over $300 thousand dollars in brown paper bags full of money given to him by an Air Bus dealer and middle man by the name of Karlheinz Schreiber. He then took the Canadian Government (The can taxpayers) to court and got another $2 million dollars for damages.
Lyrics
Yes it's me there on the jukebox singin' songs that I wrote while I'm sittin' at the Raceway getting drunk (a lowdown tavern) And if your askin' what I'm doin' on the Jungle side'o town let's say the blues have got me down I'll get me a job as a Lumberjack on the Northern coast of Maine I'll ride a Moose or a Goose or underneath a Caboose of a South East bound freight train And when I get to Washington I'll shake their hands s hard they'll scream and match that Reagan Cowboy who brought Mulroney to his knees Chorus #1 But I'll feel better come tomorrow pack my blues and board a plane buy a one way ticket down to Florida kiss the sun and leave the rain This old town has got me goin' 'round in circles but I'll be gone yes I'll be gone I'm leaving now but I'll sure miss Maple sugar time as sweet the girl from Mechanicsville I left three months behind And I'm sorry ted 'bout what you said but it's something I can't let go but a man's not a man when he turns his back on an Orphan of the road Chorus#2 But I'll feel better come tomorrow from my feet up to my brain throw my prescription out the window and my pills all down the drain And if my friends should ask about me tell 'em to turn on the radio cause I'll be gone yes I'll be gone Words/Music Paul Henry Dallaire SOCAN.CA Musicians on this track are; Dave- dennison (Family Brown country) Piano- Ted Gerow (Five man electrical band) Bass-Dusty King Jr. background voices-rick Evans and company Steel guitar-Gary Spicer
