My musicality ranges most genres; I enjoy going to clubs researching rhythms that make people dance and sing & watching movies to hear how sound creates emotion
I started off playing the guitar when I was 13 because my older brother bought a guitar. I started playing a lot of Spanish flamenco because I watched Once Upon A Time In Mexico and Antonio Banderas played a new hand made guitar in one of the opening sequences of the movie. From there, I got introduced to Jack Johnson and the people he jammed with; Donavon Frankenreiter, G-Love and of course Ben Harper; all the while, I was trying to learn Red Hot Chilli Peppers' songs and tried to mimic John Frusciante's style; to which I got introduced to John Mayer and his style of playing. Along the while, due to my destructive nature as a teen, my prayerful mother brought me to an African church in hopes I wouldn't die so early. To her success, someone ratted out that I played guitar, the second time I attended, by the third attendance I was part of the music team. During my time, I was immersed in Gospel arrangements; free-flowing styles; improvisation; call-and-response vibes; a normal day as a gospel musician. One of the biggest influences was definitely Israel Houghton and Fred Hammond but some originals from the local church. As years past my high-calibre artists would come by the church and show me new styles of playing and arranging music. It was during this time I got involved in song-writing processes, for different genres, rap, hip-hop, pop, Rn'b, and indie songs. I went to a leadership college and got a chance to volunteer (to this day) one of the busiest and high-capacity events team I have ever seen; which has helped a lot of my organisational skills and emotional intelligence in contributing to helping me structure one a lot of my projects. This year after I finished my course at Ableton College, I left my work as a private concierge for a very wealthy family in order to see what I want to accomplish in the next chapter of my life. I travelled Europe of a few months and found myself in Tel-Aviv (Israel), where I just happen to be smoking some weed with a Rabbi, and he posed me this question, "How can you help humanity, when your hiding your giftings?" Hence how this whole project started. Ano-luz is Portuguese for "lightyears", and since I enjoy playing with meaning, it can also mean something else in Spanish, to which my response would be, "context helps us to understand".
