Story behind the song

A Year Without Touch details the second phase of Lancelot's life with Arthur.  It is a short, chaotic song, indicative of the time when Lancelot ran away from Camelot.  Driven to madness by lust, loneliness and his hideous visage, he found that his only refuge from his love for Guinevere was in abandoning the only world where he found comfort.
