An adult ballad nursery rhyme. Me on vocals, me on drums, me on acoustic guitar, Preston Wagner on bass and Rick Redd on electric lead axe.
The band is 'me' and friends who have so generously contributed to this effort.
Story behind the song
Just another personal, pensive reflection from my time long ago in a land far, far away. This one was part of a (6) song concept project called Full Circle....recorded in 1984.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Children....what's today, tiny Soldiers masquerade.
I feel it deeply when I see them laughing as they aim
Toy guns...it's OK, it keeps them entertained.
One more generation thinking it's a game.
Boy guns don't tell the truth no matter how they're played.
Look back....do you recall? There was no parades.
Chorus
I never wanted praise anyway.
I never wanted praise anyway.
Lead Break
I never wanted praise anyway.
I never wanted praise anyway.
Verse 2
Children....what's today, tiny Soldiers masquerade.
I feel it deeply when I see them laughing as they aim
Boy guns don't tell the truth no matter how they're played.
Look back....do you recall? There was no parades.
Chorus
I never wanted praise anyway.
I never wanted praise anyway.
