Christie Josef & The Purpose, a Portland, OR Indie folk rock band playing songs with meaning and hope that humanity can navigate and save itself and our planet.
I am an indie-rock singer/songwriter who released a CD, Spark A Ripple in June 2014. The songs represent my attempt to understand what goes on around me and why it matters. Isn't it time for us to take personal responsibilty for our circumstances and the state of our planet? For me it is about truth, integrity, compassion and kindness (especially to ourselves) as a way to bring light and balance back into our lives and as a result, back into the world. My search for understanding is my commitment to truth and my songs are my way of sharing what has been gifted to me through this search.

Lyrics
The Sum Of Us Is One   What about this is so difficult to get                                          Earth, water, fire, air, and humans all connect We move in a planetary dance and respect for all is our only chance Chorus:                                                                                   If it hurts the earth, it hurts us                                                  To poison our planet is to poison ourselves                                When we take care of our world, it will heal our lives            The sum of us is one                                                                           It’s time to recognize and to participate So we can save ourselves before it’s too late When we realize the affects of our choices We can strengthen the resolve of our voices   Bridge:  Precious earth has held us for so long                                         Even when we choose such harm and such wrong                      But enough is enough, don’t you think                                     When we put ourselves at risk of being extinct Copyright Christie Josef
