Nepean Concert Band (NCB) are Wednesday evenings, 7:30to 9:30 PM, at the Nepean Creative Arts Centre, 35 Stafford Road, Ottawa, Ontario. The NCB is always open to new members. The NCB is a provincially-registered non-profit organization and depends upon membership fees, concert revenue, and sponsorship from patrons in the public and private sectors, to pay for the necessities such as conductor's honorarium, rehearsal space rental, equipment maintenance and the purchase of quality concert band arrangements.

Story behind the song

This piece was written by our Conductor for the musicians of Woodroffe HS in 2016 to commemorate the suffering and suicide, in 2012, of Amanda Todd, who fell victim to cyber bullying. The piece seeks to present a playful, curious, though unsettled first melody which is ultimately engulfed in dissonance and a sense of desperation. The melody is fragmented in a passage meant to demonstrate anxiety and cruel taunting. There follows a section wherein some peace is, hopefully, found. An attempt is made to give voice to the strong but wounded love of Amanda's mother, Carol, a tireless worker for education about cyber danger & safe cyber practices.
