Lyrics
That Day
Copyright 2018 Lyrics: Nola Connolly; Neil Sleevi

Verse 1:
Imagine Jesus scourged and scorned
He’s stripped and beaten; pierced with thorns
No man ever suffered more
Than Jesus did that day
His back is plowed up like a field
With furrowed rows of flesh revealed
Bloody wounds by which we're healed
He bore our sins that day
Verse 2:
His beard is ripped right off his face
His joints are all stretched out of place
He who'd save us, hung disgraced
For six long hours that day.
He's mocked for His obed - i - ence
Yet calls no angels for defense
His Father's pleased! Does it make sense,
He's stricken there that day?
Verse 3:
He cries, “I thirst” while hanging there
Though death and darkness scarcely care
Angry voices turned to scared
For what was done that day
Where spikes had kept His body pinned
Impaling pain finds punctured limbs
His Father's wrath drunk for our sin
For Jesus’ thirst that day.
Bridge :
What could there be that’s any worse,
In all He did to take our sins?
For on that day He became accursed
His Father had forsaken Him
Verse 4: (key change)
“Forgive them, Father”, He prayed above
With agonizing gasps of love
Would we know just who He was
If we were there that day?
Condemned as thieves on left and right
Will we repent; and embrace His Light?
To be with Him in Paradise
As Jesus said that day
