Old Letters © 2018 Vic Arnold In my grandmother's house C where the family were gathered F in an old cardboard box by her bed C F we found some old letters, C all frayed and tattered F and were moved by the lines that we read C F In a handwritten style C from an age well behind us F Grandad had wrote from the heart C F He said "We are only here once. C Let that serve to remind us F that life is so short once it starts C F Ch.1 I love those old letters I love those old stories F of campfires and heroes, and new territories C They paint me a picture up there in my mind F of good times and bad and the girl left behind C F Br. They told of a romance, a weekend in Vegas, F C a short honeymoon in a couple of pages. F C Then the last one from Saigon said F "Honey. I won't be gone long". Am Ch.2 We read those old letters. We read those old stories F of campfires and heroes, and raising old glory C Read that old Western Union. The cold printed line F Am that told a short story and run out of time C F
