The only band to make it HUGE from out of the Wirral music scene I grew up being a part of. I'm proud of the fact that some of the musicians I grew up with made a living out of their craft and influenced many others.

Introducing the greatest talent ever to emerge from the orange bedroom at my parents house. I play guitar like.... well, like a guy playing guitar. I tickle ivories. I twiddle on the computer. I sometimes enjoy beans on toast for breakfast. And in the cracks between the eating, sleeping, laughing, crying, working, breathing experience that is my life there sometimes slips out songs like these.

Story behind the song
Andy McCluskey of OMD revealed to Mojo magazine November 2009 that this song was influenced by the German synth pioneers Kraftwerk and particularly their single, Radioactivity. He explained: Im sure it was Kraftwerks influence behind our penchant for writing love songs to inanimate objects: aeroplanes, telephone boxes, oil refineries. We wrote Electricity when we were 16, the year we heard Radioactivity. I remember many years later being invited to (ex Kraftwerk member) Wolfgang Flürs apartment and I happened to notice their gold record for Radioactivity, which had been a single in France. I said, Oh Radioactivity, my favorite Kraftwerk song. You do know that our Electricity was our version of Radioactivity sped up.? And Wolfgang and Karl said, Oh yes, we knew that. Why the fascination with electricity? Andy McCluskey, explained: Paul (Humphreys) studied electronics and would probably have been an engineer if the band had not changed his life. No accidents yet. But theres still time.
