One man recording the cobwebs of his mind; Shall we listen in?
One man singer-songwriter musician. Included here are songs written as far back as the late seventies, up to and including the present day. Four of the songs were recorded in the late 90's and make up an EP called Skies. Other albums include A Man Alone from 2002, and The World At Large from 2005. Since then, songs have been released singly as they've been completed. A new album is now available - Tales Of Love And Defiance (talesofloveanddefiance.com)

Story behind the song
A song expressing my dissatisfaction at the path the country has been on for quite some time. The United States has replaced real patriotism with jingoism, mindlessly espousing "support our troops" without any real understanding of the situation. This has led to the failure of the previous administration and the polarizing effect it has had in politics, as well as the population as a whole. It all stems from the paralyzing effect terrorism has caused. It's a sad situation. As far as the actual recording, it's BIAB drums, with me playing Jazz bass and two tracks of acoustic guitar. Violin and accordion were scored and performed using MuseScore II. Acoustics, vocals and tambourine were recorded with the TASCAM DP-32 SP and transferred into Cubase, where the rest of the recording and mixing was done. Final editing of the audio master was done with Audacity. Thanks to Shana Davis Fidler for help with the background vocals.
Lyrics
Once we were a shining city on a hill We sent a man to the moon because we had the will When the towers fell, America tasted defeat From that day to this, its been a retreat America, on its knees America, on its knees Remember when we stood tall Now were waiting for the blow to fall America, on its knees Once we led the fight on ignorance Now all our money goes on self-defense What is it for, our might defends? What the sick and poor might say depends America, on its knees America, on its knees Remember when we stood tall Now were waiting for the blow to fall America, on its knees We lost so much from the world we knew We lost our hope and our children too Once we werent afraid to go outside But that all seemed to change when so many died The bullets and the bombs, every day Just wring your hands and pretend to pray America, get off your knees America, get off your knees We need you there standing tall Not crouching low behind a wall America, get off your knees America, get off your knees America, won't you please?
