Cathy Wetzel, originally from Littleton, Colorado, moved to Iowa in 1975. She was in a local band called CaFaye for 12 years with her husband Jerry, which is where she met Gregory who was their bass player and best man at their wedding. She has written many songs over the years that reflect the trials and successes of her life, which she has woven into a musical play and hopes to record it. She is currently in the band Rose ‘N Thorns that plays in the Quad Cities. Gregory Payton- I've been a Musician since my early teenage years. I started out wanting to be a guitar player and that was the first instrument that I owned. I switched to the bass after some friends and I wanted to put a band together and there was no one to play bass. My father was a well known musician in the area and had a band called the "Dukes of Rhythm" and the bass player had an old bass he wasn't using and gave it to me. So, that was the start of my musical career.

Story behind the song
What happens after you die? Do you walk off into the clouds and into the arms of your loved ones, or do you just become part of the cosmos. I only wish we would find out, after all of this living, what’s in a life.
Lyrics
WHAT’S IN A LIFE I walk out the door and onto the street And feel something solid under my feet The world seems so plain and simple to me Until all that knowledge creeps into me That you’re gone, gone from me You’re gone, gone to see What’s in a life The foolishness of the worries in life Hit me like a rabbit caught in the light Afraid to run free Afraid not to stay Be hit by the train that’s comin’ my way Cause you’re gone, gone from me Yeah, you’re gone, gone to see What’s in a life I’ll stand straight and tall and wave you goodbye And try not to wipe these tears from my eyes I’ll let them fall free It’s just how you lived Remember the smile and the love that you gave Now you’re gone, gone from me Yeah, you’re gone, gone to see What’s in a life Now you’re gone, gone from me Yeah, you’re gone, gone to see What’s in a life
