Story behind the song
In 1995 2 friends of mine, Wayne Bond and Jason Walsh, laid down some tracks to an idea Wayne and Jason came up with. I sat through a tedious hour or two listening to the rhythm section being laid...
When Jay laid down the chorus, it sent chills down my spine and made the hair stand up on the back of my neck, and I started belting out the chorus.
When they were done with the laydown, Wayne handed me the mic and said, "It's your turn"
I had no idea of a story line whatsoever, but the chorus was indisputable!
I proceeded to make up some nonsensical, yet cool lyrics leading up to the chorus, and now I had a vocal guide to work with.
The day I wrote the lyrics, I had full blown lyringitis, and couldn't speak, let alone sing a word.
With a bottle of scotch (to hopefully loosen up my lyrinics), pencil paper and ghetto blaster. I wrote that tune that night, and when I could sing again we arranged a session.
It took us a year to finish this song, on a 4 track recorder. (We had to bounce allot of tracks)
This was Wayne's first fully produced song at his Millwood Recording Studio.
I was the oldest one at the ripe age of 28, Wayne Bond (Drummer/Engineer) was only 15 and Jason Walsh (Guitarist) was only 14!
We are still friends, and Jason and Wayne both make good living in the music industry. I'm more into advertising and marketing.
I still love music and making videos, which both The Search and a live jam recording of my Brother (Jason Zettler) recorded at Wayne's studio last in 2015 of Alice Cooper's Welcome to my Nightmare. The video for Welcome to my Nightmare is designed to create Drug Awareness...
