Story behind the song
The song is about a homeless man who's hanging out with Sally under the bridge. The police show up looking for a suspect and he fits description. They take him down town and print him only to find out he's not the guy. So he struts out like cheech and chong. With the right to burn his own time at will
Lyrics
She was a southside Sally no need to pretend and we where dtinkin wine with a friend of a friend hangin on the ridge at the end of the bridge and when the sun went down we watched the fire dance around AND THE GIRLS ALL WAVED THEIR ARMS AND SWAYED JUST RIGHT It was a quarter to ten and I was feelin the bends Thought I'd take a ride with my friend in my mind She won't lie to you baby When I turned around thought I heard a sound pulled out my blade say what you gotta say but there was the man standin there He said you better come with me you can enter a plea make your call now up against the wall ya AND THE BOYS ALL KNOW WHAT WE'RE TALKIN BOUT She was a Southside Sally no need to pretend and we where dtinkin wine with a friend of a friend We throwin down mindin our own until you came along He said you can go caus the print don't match So I packed up my bags saluted the flag Walked down the line with the right to burn my time AND THE GIRLS ALL WAVED THEIR ARMS AND SWAYED JUST Right we where hippidy hoppin with freedom smilin faces and all She was a Southside Sally
