Story behind the song
*WARNING* If you would rather enjoy this piece of art and have it come to mean something truly unique to you, do not read the backstory. Just as the band “Aerosmith” once criticized the music video industry of robbing fans from having their own visions of imagery associated to a song and supplanting it with some “official” footage, so too can knowing a songs backstory potentially come to rob it of having some special place and meaning for you. Or both can exist. It’s all really subjective. Proceed with understanding. Thank you, V The Official Backstory This song was about Jade. Yes, again. This was the first song I wrote about them. This was the night of that same day they first ran to my house from New Glasgow. I'd say that they would remember the day I am talking about as soon as they read this (should they ever read this), but considering how much they have demonstrated having forgotten and completely wiped from their memory of me - I doubt it very much now. I'm fairly confident that I am the only thing left alive with any clear memory of all of those times, and to the rest of the world, it might as well not have ever happened. That is how insignificant I am. It seems there are so many that mattered so much to me, yet I never mattered to anyone else. At any rate, without any further ado getting sidetracked... This song was heavily influenced by very many sources. I would say some more obviously apparent than others, but they are all very apparent to me. The entire Carlos Santana catalog, for example, is very apparent. What is apparent to me, but perhaps not as apparent to others is the influence of flamenco music, afro-cuban grooves, jazz (in particular, a song I loved called "A Night In Tunisia"), and the later works of Gloria Estafan. I never brought this song out to the stage with any band. I was afraid that the lyrics would be judged too harshly as "cheesy". I was afraid to hold this song up for judgement given its highly personal nature. Here it is for the first time in a form that others can hear.

All rights reserved (April 17, 1995) From the album "Sons Of Lillith" Recorded on May 7, 2017 Oh , Fan the flame to fire Oh , As it burns desire Oh , You learn to love the pain Oh , My baby dances like a flame And she burns She's too hot, just as her temper Blinded pure intentions, she'll leave a scar She's my soul, she's my salvation Burning brighter than any star Oh, Fire-woman, can't you see Our endless passion will set us free From this physical realm of captivity Oh, Fire-woman, set us free Your temptuous resent has built a wall But without life its reason falls And once again our souls will unite Oh, Fire-woman, burn me tonight
