Story behind the song
Into Rock: a song that is among other songs I wrote and recorded back in 2010-2011 for a concept project kind of Deep Purple meets Iron Maiden [and with a little touch of progressive rock, without being all progressive rock]. For this song, Into Rock, and the remaining songs of this concept project, I hear a specific kind of voice and there was initially one singer of a Montreal local band I had in mind for this concept project because this singer has the type of voice I clearly hear for these songs in question. And to give in advance an idea to this Montreal singer of what exactly I was hearing for these songs (musically and vocally), thats why I recorded a demo of these songs (that includes Into Rock) back in 2011 in order for this singer to hear exactly what I have in mind for this concept project (with Johnny Maz on keyboards and Mike McNeil on drums). But having never received back then a reply from this Montreal singer, I asked afterwards another singer but this time, in Ottawa, for which he also had the type of voice I clearly hear for these songs but having also never had a reply from this other singer either, I therefore decided it was best to keep these songs for another time, not only because I cant sing these songs while playing guitar at the same time, but also because I dont think that my type of voice fits at all with these kind of songs, including Into Rock. So since I want to record this song again in the future (dont know when yet) but next time with a full band and with another singer (because once again, this song is just a demo; its definitely not the final version!), and since also that I prefer to play Live all the other songs of this concept project with a full band, therefore this song (as well as Reason to Live) will not be part of the songs I will play Live as an opening act (me and my iPod due to lack of budget to hire a Live band). When Ill start playing Live, I want to play only songs on which I can sing and play at the same time, and also on which I think my type of voice can fit. So despite the fact that this song (Into Rock) is not one of my songs on which Im at my best vocally, I hope however youll be able to enjoy the instrumental side of this song that, as I said previously, will be eventually recorded again in the future but next time with a full band and with another singer than me.
