Just another singer/songwriter. I play all my own instruments (except drums) and record on a Boss BR1200CD standalone multi-track recorder
Just an old Back To The Land hippie that stuck to his plan.

Story behind the song
Geo Ballentine introduced me to this song. I was immediately fascinated by the haunting melody and lyrics which depict a Civil War bride whose husband never returns from battle. She subsequently spirals into a deep, lifelong psychotic depression. Geo sent me a track of solo "turbodiddley", a 4 string cigar box resonator of sorts and I added the vocals and a small violin solo. It's unlike anything I have ever attempted.
Lyrics
Have you seen Amanda Blaine in the hills of Shiloh Wandering in the morning rain through the hills of Shiloh Have you seen her at her door listening for the cannon's roar And the man who went to war from the hills of Shiloh. Have you heard her mournful cries in the hills of Shiloh Have you seen her haunted eyes in the hills of Shiloh Have you seen her running down searching through the sleeping town In her yellowed wedding gown in the hills of Shiloh. Have you seen her standing there in the hills of Shiloh Wind a blowing through her hair in the hills of Shiloh Listening for the sound of guns listening for the rolling drums And the man who never comes to the hills of Shiloh. Have you heard Amanda sing in the hills of Shiloh Whispering to her wedding ring in the hills of Shiloh Hear her humming soft and low poor Amanda doesn't know It was ended forty years ago in the hills of Shiloh...

It is raining and misty in the mountains today. The watery limbs of trees hanging down. I am looking to find Amanda Blaine, but can't see her anywhere. But the music is good. A perfect song for a day like today.

Always nice to hear you do traditional stuff, sounds almost like an old English folk song, but the history of music is intermingled in both countries, your voice lends itself well to this storytelling style, you don't think of a banjo as haunting but it is here,as is the violin evoking a distant age and a tale with a twist at the end, this place would be all the poorer without you my friend.

Wish to copy the words capitan Michael Duran used: "What an emotional impact..."!! Yes. Unique arrangement, solid performance and I loved the violin solo so much (even if a little bit too short)!! :)

This is quite a sad yet interesting song subject - you really put forth the sorrow in your performance Charlie. Excellent rendition -

What a unique song and melody, I've never heard this before but it sounds like a civil war tune or one from that time frame. You did an excellent job with the vocals and the violin really sounds great and I could have listened to that solo much longer too!
