FIGHT AGAINST IT... It's a cancer in the nation, breeding fear and exploitation, trampling justice into frustration... we don't need this blind, cold, calculated prejudice.

Introducing the greatest talent ever to emerge from the orange bedroom at my parents house. I play guitar like.... well, like a guy playing guitar. I tickle ivories. I twiddle on the computer. I sometimes enjoy beans on toast for breakfast. And in the cracks between the eating, sleeping, laughing, crying, working, breathing experience that is my life there sometimes slips out songs like these.

Story behind the song
'We all can be so prejudice' We all have our 'us and them' moments. We hide names we seldom speak out loud to describe those we consider 'different'. Maybe it's fear. Maybe it's ignorance. It's not helpful. Its like a cancer that prevents us from discovering the riches that those who are 'not the same' as us can enrich our lives with. The song itself doesn't need much explanation. It was written not long after the Berlin Wall came down (1989)... when there was a spirit of optimism still in the air. The sound sample is of South African Methodist Bishop Stanley Mogoba, who was imprisoned along Nelson Mandela at Robben Island, 1963-1966. He spoke at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Wales when it met at Rhossllanycrygog (I think in 1990... but I may be wrong). Prophetically he spoke of how progress in dismantling prejudice had been made, but the road ahead was 'still uncertain' and how we needed to 'take every step cautiously'. So many of the gospel encounters of Jesus involve victims of prejudice. Outcasts. Prostitutes. Lepers. Unclean women. He even gives us parables with titles that in His time would have been scancalous... like the 'Good' 'Samaritan'... not two words most Jewish folk at that time would include in the same sentence! We have all experienced prejudice in one way or another... giving or receiving. We are never entirely free of it! Hopefully awareness can be part of the healing process!
Lyrics
Prejudice Prejudice,Prejudice, Prejudice,Prejudice, Black, White, n*** ,Jew It just doesn't matter to you You put people down because of the colour of their skin, or just because of the religion they are in You're prejudice. Blind cold calculated prejudice Oh you're just so prejudice Ignorant misguided prejudice Blind yourself to those not the same Pull them down and call them names Show favoritism to the devil you know As for the rest they'll have to go Apartheid, Ku Klux Klan, Asian race, Macho Man Money talks it's in the bag, she's a dyke and he's a fag. Prejudice,so many victims of Prejudice, Oh yeah are you Prejudice, (Could this be true? yes) It's a cancer in the nation, Breeding fear and expolitation Trampling justice into humilation We don't need this biased, bigoted prejudice. Oh yeah are you Prejudice Oh yeah are you Prejudice Oh yeah are you Prejudice Freedom of thought, freedom of choice, Freedom to buy, freedom to voice Freedom to abuse, freedom to kill Freedom to destroy for better or ill, Calling names, playing games, National pride and more beside In the narrow vision of a fools paradise It seems we fall for the devils lies.
