Rub That Black Dust From Your Eyes

Daddy was a farmer
he said that we would stay
in our home in Oklahoma
the black powder won't chase us away
turn the dinner plates over
and lay the blankets down
once everything's covered
grab the shovel and hide underground
chorus
The black cloud is rolling, rolling over our lives
daddy is hoping, hoping we're gonna survive
the family has made it, at least this time
get out and start digging, rub that black dust from your eyes
mama hangs the bed sheets
to clean out on the line
mama says start sweeping
'cause we want to sleep clean tonight
daddy's still dreaming
of harvesting his land
when tomorrow comes
he'll go to work the fields once again
chorus
The black cloud is rolling, rolling over our lives
daddy is hoping, hoping we're gonna survive
the family has made it, at least this time
get out and start digging, rub that black dust from your eyes
