Blues rock- ballad. Rod wrote the lyrics as a poem and when Tim came up with the bass line, Don added the chords and a simple and yet beautiful melody over the top. It has a sort of "Dire Strait" influence to it.
We are funk, we are rock, we are grunge, we are whatever we can be to fill the void. A four piece progressive rock band who composed and performed all original
Story behind the song
This song started with an idea I (Timothy Heseltine) had for a riff with a simple progression- I intended to have a simple, three chord song that would be powerful by virtue of its dynamics and effective rhythm and melody. Don then added some chords and a simple yet beautiful melody and the music started to take shape. Rod had an existing poem he had written which worked extremely well with the music. Don added a guitar solo (employing digital delay) and the band then worked on building the song up from a quiet, bluesy introduction to a fairly pacey crescendo. It has a sort of "Dire Straits" influence to it.
Lyrics
Lyrics: R. Fernandez, Music: Rhombic Void
Verse 1
A child is crying,
Tears fall to the night,
Stars lit brightly,
Whispers pure delight.
And there's silence.
Verse 2
Darkness cooled by soothing lights,
Seven times around you bright.
You the child that stands alone,
Sleepy shadows,
Moonlit night.
Verse 3
Seven times I'll see you fall,
yet these same time
You will stand again,
Till all are safe in father's hand and
Life is won for he and all
You'll stand,...,stand,...
