Introducing the greatest talent ever to emerge from the orange bedroom at my parents house. I play guitar like.... well, like a guy playing guitar. I tickle ivories. I twiddle on the computer. I sometimes enjoy beans on toast for breakfast. And in the cracks between the eating, sleeping, laughing, crying, working, breathing experience that is my life there sometimes slips out songs like these.

Story behind the song
In the late 19-seventies Punk Rock emerged in England. At the same time I was involved in doing door to door collections for British 'Food-Aid' charity Christian Aid. Whilst on occasions I was overwhelmed by folks generosity I was also astonished at some peoples hostility. It remains my belief that poverty causes great harm, not only to those trapped in its claws, but also to the possibilty of us ever having a peaceful world. As long as we have a planet where, due to no fault of their own (other than the circumstances of their birth) some 'have' and some 'have not'' then there is always going to be violence. Those in a position of privelige (which is just about everybody in the western world) have the ability to share, so that others can simply live. But instead we surround ourselves with distractions and change the channel and bury our heads in the sand and act like it's the developing world's own fault that they are in the situation we allow them to continue in. So this song, harnessed to the glorious anger that was expressed in the emerging music that became known as 'punk rock', is basically a rant regarding wilful ignorance of the issues surrounding global poverty. As always, it is addressed mostly to myself and my own complicity in middle class myopia!
