Story behind the song

There I go again, speaking of my father.I loved him, and everyone who knows me is aware of the fact. It was one of the first Christmas songs that he taught me. He probably knew that I would be pretty much like the Good King in the song.
I know, you are probably asking, what good has it really been to me, but  I cannot seem to help myself. My heart has held me captive, and will no let me go.
I can only tell it like it is. Honesty guides my life.
