Story behind the song
My two sisters (Jill and Debbie) and I rented a mountain house in Beech Mtn. NC. The highest elevation home in NC, for our parent's anniversary. I decided to write a song that us kids could all sing in, record it and give it to them. About life growing up in the woods of Upstate NY. Here it is.

Sapbush Road July 2000 Beech Mtn. NC production J. Michael Tracy midtempo Grew up in the woods, it was peaceful there The sap of a bush, the swamp of a bear (Me) We didn’t have money but we didn’t care The world seemed far away The air was so clean, the snow so white We’d ride the tractor in the woods at night (Wendy) We could see real good cause the moon was so bright The games us kids would play The time is gone, never standing still 1st chorus That was still our home and it always will be the (Me, Wendy) Place—where life was good and the air was free (Harmony-Me) We all go our ways—and it marches on Complicates our lives but we carry on We never know till we’re made to see That our lives depend upon you and me You and me Choppin the wood—mowin the lawn Stuck in the snow—a swim in the pond (Mike) Just watchin a doe—a leadin her fawn Playin baseball in the yard Singin along on the patio Dad’s burnin corn-look at Debbie go (Jill) The chickens and duck are puttin on a show Life was not that hard (chorus) Inst. ½ verse 2nd chorus (1/2 verse) (Debbie, Mike) Day after day—night after night Harmony Johnny Tryin like hell just to get it right Workin our jobs—fightin the fight (Debbie) So that we can go home again (chorus)1 & ½ times 3rd chorus (Me, Jill) JTracy3358@aol.com 8/98 (Harmony-Me)
