Story behind the song
Originally posted for the CBC ST Patrick's Day Challenge 2014. Adapted from a backing track I got from Mike Bennett a few years ago. I speeded up his backer to meet a slowed down version of this classic jig I had worked out. Using mikes 4/4 backer this version is presented in an Americana soft rock package. Jig melody played on MIDI keyboard using Magix Strings for the violin. Willie Colemans jig Also known as An Lurgadán, Foynes, Lurgadán, Mice In The Cupboard, The Moate Hunt, Ollie Reilly, Sheep On The Moor, Whillie Colemans, Whillie Colemans, Willie Colemans, Willy Colemans. Originally suited to tin whistle and flute, it also lends itself to the fiddle It is an oft' varied tune that seems to fit many timings like 3/4, 6/8, and in this case 4/4 which gives it a bit of an Americana vibe.

From Sattriani to Celtic, now that's versatility! The Irish tradition should be proud to have this! great job from both of you!

Wow, this collab with Mike Bennett and Yourself is truly beautiful. Happy song with sweet sentimental melodies. Contemporary flair as well. Greatly played.

A traditional, giving the feeling this is a live performance in an Irish pub. A very folky mood. Good job, Michael and Mike!

Very clever composition, one of my favorite collaborations. A fusion of styles that maintains a very authentic Celtic sound.

sounds really good Michael, elements of different syles and ersa combining in a way that works so well. then, i've never know you to be held down by convention. cool
I remember this one! I like how the fiddle reinterprets a traditional gigue style over a modern rock setting. This is the opposite of the blues. :D

Glad that you found this. I was wondering when I came across it and checked around why it hadn't been used yet...mystery is solved and sounds great!
