Dan Lackey left his cabin on the head of Marrowbone Creek to go to Logan Town to collect the pension he received for having been injured fighting for the Union. On his way home he was robbed and killed by local "home guards" According to the legend he hid a fortune in gold in the mountains near his cabin.
