Story behind the song
We need so much more than songs to truly save this lost world
Lyrics
NO SONG No song can keep a child at play, Safe from the evils of the day. No song can keep children from harm Or make abuse a false alarm. No song can restore families When drugs have brought them to their knees. No song can save a wayward son Or undo all the damage done. No song in the whole universe Can ever lift this awful curse. These times are tough and getting worse, So, hide your wallet – hide your purse. No song can wipe out poverty, Keep the world from going hungry. No song can shelter homeless men Or give them dignity again. No song can blot out bigotry Or make all men equally free. No song can make men color blind Or open hearts and open minds. No song in the whole universe Can ever lift this awful curse. These times are tough and getting worse, So, hide your wallet – hide your purse. No song can stop that TB wheeze Or slow down a single disease. No song carries the AIDS answer Or comes close to curing cancer. No song can bring foes together Or help change the warming weather. No song can force all wars to cease Or shape a brave new world at peace. No song in the whole universe Can ever lift this awful curse. These times are tough and getting worse, So, hide your wallet – hide your purse. Guess I was right all along: I’m no singer, and this is “No Song.” Copyright © 2015 Lex Zaleta
