Story behind the song
The Holocaust wasn't just one event at one time in our history. Here it comes again.
Lyrics
ANOTHER HALO CAST The morning broke, cold and gray, Like in a Poe short story. They set out to capture their prey; Hoped to corner their quarry. The haunted hills were alive, But not with the sound of music. The groans of creatures deprived Were enough to make you sick. Were you with ‘em When they said, half sighin’, “There’s a certain rhythm To our dyin’. There’s a reason, There’s a rhyme, Why we all fall down, We all fall down, We all fall down in time.” One by one, they herded them Into black boxes of death. The gray sky, so full of phlegm, Grew fuller with each last breath. Precious few gagged at the stench; Even fewer stopped to think. No one threw a monkey wrench Into their wicked machine. Were you with ‘em When they said, half sighin’, “There’s a certain rhythm To our dyin’. There’s a reason, There’s a rhyme, Why we all fall down, We all fall down, We all fall down in time.” They walk among us today, Wearing black masks or white sheets. You and I are their next prey As cruel history repeats. Every time the fat lady sings, Another soul has passed. One more set of angel wings; Another halo cast. Were you with ‘em When they said, half sighin’, “There’s a certain rhythm To our dyin’. There’s a reason, There’s a rhyme, Why we all fall down, We all fall down, We all fall down in time.” Copyright © 2016 Lex Zaleta
