Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
A disturbing tale of the relationship between the needy and those who need to be needed. Warning - chorus might be a bit earwormy. This version remastered by Densyl - nice work my friend!
Lyrics
It's just a little too close to call Which one's the bat, which one's the ball Someone has to push, someone has to pull So self-destructively wonderful I don't know when to stop, 'cause I don't know where to start When our levels of commitment are this far apart Tiptoeing around you's become a delicate art Yet it's okay to tread on my checkerplate heart I find it hard to cope with your shifting needs Only ever biting the hand that feeds The more you have to give, the more I have to take But never quite enough for the rope to break I often sit and wonder where would you be Without this constant attention from me? Then I get to thinking what would I do Without spending my life running after you? I don't know when to stop, 'cause I don't know where to start When our levels of commitment are this far apart Tiptoeing around you's become a delicate art Yet it's okay to tread on my checkerplate heart

heard this over at CC, the guitars sound great, and nice playing too. you got that angus vibe on your vibrato :) i thought the mix was bang on, nice snap on the snare, no kick drop out, everything sounds the right balance. good work.

this is such a polished piece, so expertly recorded. excellent song, solid vocal and the instrumentation nails it. not just trying to spout compliments, i am genuinely laying down compliments.

Man the goose bumps were ripping up and down my spin on this one Steve. Awesome production. Great drum track. Love those cool vocals and those bad as* guitars. Great bridge starting at 2:23 to rockin' bliss starting at 3:08. Rock Star Greatness!

Absolutely brilliant lyrics...I really, REALLY wish I'd written this!! I can so relate to the words...it appeals to my rather cutting evil twin, lol. Great ending, wasn't expecting that, very nice attention grabber.

Exceptional tune. Got me from the start!!
The riff, the attitude, this is some spankin' rock. Reminds me of Them Crooked Vultures. Oh yeah, turn it up. Lyrics are helpful as my lyric-deafness had me thinking something about a chicken plate. If this were ebay I'd rate it "A+, would rock again."

Great beat, superb vocal attitude and phrasing, completely off-the-hook solo breaks, a Capella ending.. this is BRILLIANT!
