Attempt #1 in trying to make myself write more songs. A quick process from lyrics started on Sunday to recording finished Tuesday with early takes used. Tanglewood Java guitar and PRS SE Soapbar provided lead and (simulated) bass.

Story behind the song
A MOOC online course in arranging music for songs made me want to try to write my own lyrics again. Use of software called VersePerfect seemed to help trigger ideas though i used very few of the rhymes in came up with. I used early takes in the recording as I wanted to give it at least a bit of a live feel.
Lyrics
More time, more time
More time, more time
---------------
It's a long road getting dusty
grit's rubbing at my feet
seems so long I've been walking on
my journey's not complete
I started as one of the many
I'm becoming one of the few
my friends from the past they all drop out
and I'm left with me and you
---------------
More time, more time
the time ticks ever on
the clock of life gives another chime
and we keep going along
(repeat)
---------------
Once all green and grassy
flowers were all in bloom
the longer this road keeps winding on
the more we're steeped in gloom
perfumed flowers in the past
replaced with sickly scent
I sense the hand of the reaper
he's knowing with intent
---------------
More time, more time
the time ticks ever on
the clock of life gives another chime
and we keep going along
(repeat)
---------------
INSTRUMENTAL BREAK
---------------
This doesn't really matter
I'm quite happy with my lot
Because I've got you by my side
and my vows I've not forgot
In sickness and in health we said
and that does fine for me
I'll ignore the face of adversity
and smile at the face of thee
---------------
More time, more time
the time ticks ever on
the clock of life gives another chime
and I keep happily on
(repeat)
---------------
INSTRUMENTAL BREAK
plus:-
More Time
More Time
More Time
---------------
More time, more time
the time ticks ever on
the clock of life gives another chime
and I keep happily on
