The program is a small dog & a Siamese cat playing chasing games.
In Pomeranian Ballet, a Samoyed sled dog from the province of Pomerania (northern Poland) is depicted as an ancestral dream: modern Pomeranian toy dogs were originally bred from Samoyeds by Prussian duchy occupying Pomerania circa 1800s. The little Pomeranian dreams of being this larger dog from its ancestry. As a result, we are escorted musically through Poland & other European venues during the 19th century (and visually through dance & theater). This allows the composer a vehicle to write new music in these well known classical styles. Such as arranged excerpts from a Chopin prelude, a nod to French & Russian music etc.
