Heard this on Rodrica's player. Great song! Your Seagull "Merlin" sounded like a mountain dulcimer to me when I first heard it. The theme, vocals and instrumentation are all well performed and fit perfectly together. Really nice production!

I was so busy burning a hole in this record, I forgot to comment. This is one of my favorite genres, but it is rarely done right. It takes a delicate touch. The ol' Merwin and bass really add a sense of urgency to this piece. The solos are gritty and the vocals speak the sincere truth. I really dig the riffs, and the bridge just kills it. This song is without flaw. What a dynamite composition. Can't get enough of this one!

Brilliantly told atmospheric tale! Great vocals and performance, all the instruments sound fantastic. Really enjoyed this song, it has that touch of magic, yet also has a sobering reality.

This is just up my street Pine and the old man's picture too. I love characters and their stories and when I hear music like this I wish I was there so I could see a way of life that we've only ever heard in songs like yours. It's a song that tells the tale of the working man and his struggle living in the backdrop of nature's free will and the saying is so true, a gem created with vision and an ear for the colours of reality, giving us a picture of another time and place, I love it.

Try as I might, I can never write lyrics that tell a straight-out story. You are fortunate to have that gift. I like the sound of these instruments together. I also enjoyed the harmonies. Solid stuff here. Make sure you don't pray for rain; I'd hate to see all that hard work wash away.

EXcellent song, crystal clear mix, great story telling Charlie Much enjoyed
Inspired work Charlie! Fantastic story, great performances, and a full clear sound. You'd make a great sales rep for Seagull since every time I hear you play that Merlin I'm tempted to go buy one. :D

Pinedog classic, the Merlin sounds great I want one ! The natural tone of this and the other instruments is brought out perfectly, that fiddle sound is great too, along with the down home lyrics and vocals, ethnic country from the woods, a cautionary tale and vivid image, received with thanks from here in the UK.

Wow - what a coincidence! Just been praying for the same thing :) Yikes, somehow, I don't think that could ever happen down here in SWNM :D Love the rhythm of this one Charlie - great Country feel with a good story behind it - Bravo!
