IB: So it's been a few years since we've had an interview with you.
Bear: Yeah, what it's been like *pfft* 6 years?
IB: Yeah, it's been about 5 or more man, how are things.
Bear: Going smooth man, I'm maintaining for the moment. Y'know?
IB: So it's been a few years since you've released anything, I remember the only video you've done was "Follow My Lead". I understand that it wasn't made with anything special as professional-wise but you made your own video.
Bear: Yeah, that was about 10 years ago in my Mom's kitchen.
IB: So have you recorded anything since then?
Bear: Umm, No. I'm trying to find my own voice and style in the music I make so I had to scrap a lot of songs.
IB: Scrap? Like how many songs would you say you had to let go of.
Bear: No Lie, had to be about 300 pages I've burned.
IB: 300 pages burned?
Bear: Yeah man, I've burned my old work pretty much.
IB: Why would you burn any of your works, I know there are a lot of artist who would be against that.
Bear: yeah, I understand it ; but it was a period of my life I had to let go of. Like I was going through a depression that lasted the better of a decade and it was a part of my growing process.
IB: That's deep man, but for those who don't know from what I understand you went through a huge break up. From the previous interview, you were still going through it but you were churning out a new song almost every month.
Bear: yeah, I loved it but I hated it even more. Like, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
IB: So now, what's your situation; How's everything now?
Bear: Man, I have beautiful woman and 3 daughters up in Canada. I couldn't have asked for a better family man.
IB: Canada? Wow, I know you went up there frequently but no idea you had a whole family up there.
Bear: Yeah man, she's definitely my love and the girls are definitely my heart.
IB: It's good to see you doing better.
Bear: Thank You Bro, means a lot.
IB: So, two more questions and I'll let you go. You can say as much as you want or keep it a one word answer.
Bear: Ok Shoot.
IB: Ok, so Bear King. Why the change from PaulyV716?
Bear: Because my girls call me "Bear". Also because out of the pain and misery I went through , I feel like I've awaken from a depression that kept me down for so long. Y'know, it's a great feeling to be as a Bear; who has awaken from slumber.
IB: Ok, I feel you on that. I thought, and no offense; It was because of your size. I mean, before; I thought you were taking steroids.
Bear: (Laughing) Oh yeah man, nah. I don't even touch pills bro. But yeah, I've added a lot more pounds but I still got the strength.
IB: Ok, thats great. Terrifying but great.
Bear: So was that one or two questions?
IB: I'm sorry, that was only one. Ok, so the second will be. In 2019, will there be any new music from you or are you still molding yourself?
Bear: Molding myself but I'm not ruling out new music. Um, as long as Soundclick and Youtube keep churning out great instrumentals; I'll be busy.
IB: Ok, great. I'm sorry, one last question I promise.
Bear: It's cool. Go ahead.
IB: Is your genre still R&B or has it changed?
Bear: I will always be an R&B head but Hip Hop has definitely made an impact. But I'll show you soon.
IB: Thanks for the update Pauly.
Bear: No problem, thanks for having me.
