Another grungy rocker. Recorded on an iPhone using a Casio keyboard for the drums and a Jackson Dinky through a Vox Valvetronix amp.
Modern pop-rock with a slight hint of Eighties and Nineties alternative.
Oldmangrady is a constantly evolving musical project that I torture myself with. There have been several line-up and style changes over the years. For the time being, Oldmangrady is Lee Modlin.
Story behind the song
I wrote this one on acoustic and originally intended it to be more like Derek Webb or Caedmon's Call. I was in band called Denied 3 Times that used to do it. I've decided to grunge it up a bit.
Lyrics
Why does it feel so good, to choke on a crumb, thinking it’s a feast,
Then leave the table hungry?
Why does it feel so good, to drown on a sip, so drunk that I can’t see?
That I am still thirsty?
Take my heart and break it LORD.
Create in me, a love for You.
Take my mind, consume it LORD.
Reflect your Light, in all I do.
Why does it feel so good, to wallow in filth, pretending I’m still clean,
When everything’s dirty?
Why does it feel so good, to sit on my throne, acting like a king,
Lord, I’m so unworthy.
Take my heart and break it LORD.
Create in me, a love for You.
Take my mind, consume it LORD.
Reflect your Light, in all I do.
