The Wannabe Challenge. With the pomposity, bombast and Whimsy of early Genesis. Though maybe other bands like Van der graaf Generator in there as well.

Finger style and Acoustic Progressive guitar, flute, synth and Mellotron.
Welcome to the music of Carlo D'Anna's Ridiculous Dream music. Also known as "Dream Warrior" in some circles. Influences and music styles ranging from basic to progressive rock, with definite Retro seventies sound. If you enjoy the sound of Moody Blues, George Harrison, Genesis, Dead Can Dance, and others of the same style, more or less, you will probably like this music. I use quite a bit of Mellotron and acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well.

Story behind the song
A town in the Dark Ages, in deep despair of being subjugated by a powerful enemy places their trust a sympathetic warrior who will lead them to another land where they can escape oppression. With an attention to the pomposity and bombastic styling of early 70's Prog I give you the declarative composition of the emergence from subjugation.
Lyrics
The Chance to lead, is a privilege of a few. As we rise, as our hands reach out to you. Take the vow, and lead us through the land to the place of peace and the river flows so grand. Mark the way, with the passage of the Flame. Traipse the trail as we follow to the game. Let the daunting subjugators know, that we moved on to where the mighty river flows. Our new life shines, like it's made of gold, I can't remember the story told when we worked in toil and they made us slaves. and they kept us out from beyond the flame. Now we live as free folk only know Flame will burn as our courage starts to grow. Heroes born to lead us through the dark, walk us through the park in the sky...

Yes, I recognize the early Genesis here, and the organ makes it sound very 70's like. Of course you are not Peter Gabriel and nobody has got the same voice, but this is a very good attempt. There is as well that dreamy atmosphere you are taking us in (like often in your tracks). A lot is happening in a kind of trip. You have put a lot of yourself in it (with your specific sound) and I really enjoyed being in your world again (combined with Genesis). I especially enjoyed your use of piano and flute....... Nice one again, Carlo. Good job!

Wow I love this Carlo - another new favourite of yours for me. I'm a huge fan of early Genesis and you've capture it brilliantly here. You sound eerily like Gabriel in many places which adds to the magic, and the whole composition is sheer enjoyment. That wonderful 'Tron is the icing on the cake. Bloody brilliant!

You always had a good grip on the 70's sound and this one really takes it to the limit!. This could have been of a 1970's Genesis album, if you didn't know any better. Beatiful song, wonderful sounds. The flute is absolutely magic and the following part with acc. guitar and keys is amazing. Another great one from you, Carlo! And a favourite :)

Definitely a big nod to the Peter Gabriel period of Genesis me thinks. I agree, there are some nice tempo changes. A fabulously rich tapestry of changing moods. I like it.

Awesome comparison to Genesis Carlo! Excellent story in lyrics - neat changes at 1:15 and 3:10 - bet that is your Fernandes at 2:34 & 4:10, and at the end through the Marshall? Great tone indeed! Quite a ballad amico!
