Story behind the song
Various stories and images. There shouldn't be such stories and images but they exist and we've all seen them There's something awfully wrong here.
Lyrics
Mother mother what have I done Ive been sleeping with the other one Mother mother why the frown Dont go down to Baltimore town Mother mother what did I see saw a blue wave coming after me Mother mother now what did i do Only sold a cigarette or 2 OOOO you should have saw what I saw Cut down by the long arm of the law Mother mother oh what did i hear Heard 9 shots ring out in my ear Mother mother MY hands were high Now I lay me down to die. Mother mother what shoud i say Hush my child live another day Mother mother how many more WIll pass this way on the killing floor CHorus Mother mother what did i do Ran from the monsters all dressed in blue Mother mother should i have fled They took me alive and put me back dead. If you go to Baltimore town You better put your eyes right down better not think your fine they'll rip your head right from your spine

An unfortunate realisation of the times. As Rodrica says, the news reached the shores of the UK. A fair and mindful account you've given to us. An engaging and modernistic folk tune.

Hi Roger, Well you take them all on gotta give you credit for that. LOL! Difference here is Baltimore is run by liberal democrats and this is primarily black on black violence. Real tragedy wherever it happens but I think the press is clearly part of the problem and certainly not anywhere near the solution. Mother Mother why cant we all just get along. Clearly your signature style.

The story that I believe has inspired this song reached the UK and caused outrage - there would have been major public and political outcry if it happened over here. Whilst nobody would agree with breaking the law, no matter how minor the offense, it's disturbing when "soft targets" become the focus. Great song, very well performed.

It's so sad what's going on in this country (what's always been going on?). Nice tribute to social strife. Great feel, lyrics and very nice vocals troubadour!

So much turmoil and tragedy taking place throughout the world - dialogue, action and especially prayer are urgently needed. Interesting lyrics on this one, Roger.

Seems to be a wide-spread epidemic - prayin' for peace constantly... Besides the sad but true lyrics, nice collab production Roger -

So appropriate for the times. Followed your lyrics while listening to you sing. You are a true poet Roger. Thanks for sharing this very important theme.

Just like Neil Youngs "Ohio" This reflects what can happen when one person (or many) obtain power and divert it in obvious profiling hatred. Protesting in song can be very profound as you did hear. Hats off to you Roger.
