Lyrics
SECRET RENDZVOUS Joel Pirard The sound of quiet footsteps on the cobblestones is heard throughout the winding streets, With steady measured tread her eyes look straight ahead she must not let go her defense. Although she seems to look not to the left or right shes sure she knows the way to go. Shes been that way a thousand times before, her lovers waiting by the door. They talk of nonsense, dreaming as they fall, of happy days not soon to come For fear of death is worn like a shawl, for war has broken out for some Her only comfort is his quiet face, his only joy is when she smiles They hold each other in their tight embrace, they pray its only for a while (music interlude) their time is over, a new day starts its true, with whispered love songs, their secret rendezvous shes off to dream now, hes back inside his room to think about her, she helps dispel the gloom of bloody streets and hob-nailed shoes their hopes forever, a new day shows its face theyll stand together in the shadow of disgrace shes off to wait now for his safe return who knows how many, dead theyll have to burn to cleanse this earth and bloody streets? the sound of marching footsteps on the cobblestones, are heard with fear throughout the land.
