A melancholy maiden
sat alone by a cool stream
when a bird had heard her tears
he flew to see why she weeps
his landing was so silent
that she hadn't realized
'til she saw her reflection
in the blackness of his eyes
her heart and mind were troubled
tales of ravens have been told
that they prey upon the dead
and are thieves, omens and ghosts!

fly away
fly away from me
please don't steal my soul
I'm alive you see
let me see my love
my home and family
why did I run away
please leave me be
While he flapped his shiny wings
he then shifted in his stance
his feet hopping up and down
eager to cheer her with his dance
in nervousness she stared
at the sheen of his feathers
black as death, she grew fearful
he was trying to scare her
her doubt grew into panic
she flung herself into the stream
she tripped and lay there bleeding
it's the raven's turn to weep
Oh maiden
Please don't run
away from me
I won't capture your soul
I want you to be free
to be happy with your love
home and family
why did you run away
to die in the stream
