"because I might just cry if I don't keep it moving, I'll focus on what I can make and not what just got ruined" - George Watsky, "Cardboard Castles
Canadian indie nerdcore rapper, not trying to prove anything, just doing my thing.
Story behind the song
greatly inspired by George Watsky, in both content and style. things aren't perfect, and that's okay.
"Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can" quoted from Arthur Ashe
"yeah" sample from a capella track "yeah remix" by new5ense, from looperman.com
Lyrics
sometimes I rely on my mind too much
and I find that it leads me astray
other times I second-guess my gut
and I'm paralyzed by choice, don't know which path to take
and it's a paradoxal paradigm when your own experience
tells you how many different things can go wrong
but some say if you stay strong it won't take long
until you hit the precipice and you can share your song
but this is my song, coz it's my turn,
to deliver all these syllables to show you what I've got
and this is my shot, a culmination of my plot,
a little consolation prize for all the battles I've fought
and there's no free ride, and life's hard sometimes,
you don't always get a fair-sized piece of the pie
I won't lie, you might cry, sometimes you might wanna die,
but you'll never know how far you get if you don't try
nothing ventured, nothing gained,
it's a cliche but it rings true, just the same
"Start where you are, use what you have,
do what you can", it's the DIY way
and even if it doesn't pay, at the end of the day,
it's important that you said what you had to say
and another cliche is "all work and no play
makes Jack..." something-something so try not to go cray-cray
and, hey, sometimes it's like
life's slapping you around indiscriminately
but don't take it personal, we're all in the same boat,
so put your floaties on, we're a castaway community
it's nothing new to me, because I choose to see
that obstacles and setbacks are really opportunities
and if you're true to who and what you're really meant to be,
I promise it'll work out in the end, you'll see
