Lyrics
Back in high school I was that shy kid, that nervous kind to blush
The type when my crush approached me I felt that adrenaline rush
Hard to speak these feelings or even get out a full sentence
So I wrote her twenty poems of passion except I never sent em
We shared many classes so our paths always crossed one another
Then we had a project together, so my heart beated thunder
One and two worded sentences, the 'yeah' and 'thats cool'
My responses were uneducated like what have I been learning in school
Man I looked like a fool, I tried to play it off and not show interest
For I'd feel embarassed to show her my heart if she dismissed
My proclamation for something more, what if she laughed
But I know deep inside her personality would never let her do that
My chance has passed, we turned in our work and got an A
From that day we stayed distant friends and went our separate ways
And now today as I sit back and reminisce on the what if's
If I sent her each poem, would we be married with two kids? damn
Back in high school I was that confidant type around his crush
The kid that had ice running through his veins, paced that adrenaline rush
I spoke it all so clearly in these feelings to her I meant em
Even performed my poetry for her as our connection gained momentum
We shared many classes so we spent a lot of time with eachother
Even more time when we discovered that we had a project together
We conversed and explored our likes and dislikes, what was right
And what was left was for me to ask her out that night
Her eyes lit up as my world stopped its motion, waiting for her response
At that moment I was vulnerable so I had to act nonchalant
I repeated what I just said in my head that I loved her
She finally spoke saying she was flattered but only saw me as a brother
My heart would soon hurt, so we turned in our work and got an A
Ever since that day, we eventually went our separate ways
And now today as I sit back and reminisce on the what if's
If she felt the same way, would we be married with two kids? damn
